Animation

This animation was made during the summer after my freshman year of college. It took me a couple weeks to make working on it on and off. This was the first time I had ever made a fully rendered 3D Blender animation, and I believe it is my highest quality 3D animation to date. I hope to continue improving and creating animations such as this one, as I really enjoyed making it.

Working on 2D animation in Blender for the first time was definitely a challenge. This was made during the first semester of my freshman year of college in my own free time. While I still have a lot to learn about 2D animation as a whole, this short project taught me a lot about how different 2D and 3D animation can be.

All of these animations were made during high school. The program used was called Mine-imator, which is a basic animation program for Minecraft animations. This program is what set me on the road to becoming a better animator. You can see throughout the video how much I progressed through the years working in animation. All of the animations are set in chronological order, with my older animations being first, and my last animations in the program being at the end. The difference between the first and last clip really makes me realize how far I’ve come as an animator.

This was made for the final project of VCT-266. Our assignment was to create a 2 minute animatic or animation in any program we wished. I wanted to challenge myself, and assigned myself a hand drawn 2D animatic. I had never done traditional 2D animation before, and I have gained a massive amount of respect for those who do it for a living. I ended up being too ambitious, and ran out of time towards the end of the project, which resulted in a lot of reused drawings. Despite this, I gained an understanding of how to story board, the importance of time management, and knowing my limits.
